The Grimm sisters—eleven-year-old Sabrina and seven-year-old Daphne—are left alone when their parents vanish in a mysterious way. The girls’ guardian, a strange woman named Relda Grimm, claims to be their grandmother, and that Sabrina and Daphne are great-great-great-granddaughters of the famous Grimm brothers. The grandmother insists those brothers were not fairy-tale inventors at all, but completely truthful historians who wrote not magical fairy tales, but authentic historical chronicles. It turns out the fairy-tale heroes really do live among people—and many of them have even moved from Europe to America. The real Snow White works as a teacher in a small town not far from New York, the handsome prince has become mayor there, and the three little pigs serve as police officers. And it would be fine, but one day, when Relda Grimm is kidnapped by a real-life giant, the town erupts in panic, and Sabrina and Daphne have to become detectives to find her and set her free.
