Henri Troyat is a pen name of Lev Tarasov. He was born in Moscow into an Armenian family in 1911, and since 1917 he has lived in France. Henri Troyat became a popular writer; he is the laureate of several prestigious literary awards, including the Goncourt Prize (for the novel “The Spider,” 1930).
