It’s not that Kitez' capital city doesn’t welcome newcomers. Not at all. They do. If they’re decent people. But then a princess Volkova appeared out of nowhere, and with her—the provincial merchants who don’t know local ways; a cursed prince; a princess who once was a prince; a witcher; and four dozen kittens that need to be placed into caring hands. And that’s not even counting the Sveian werewolves, the baron with family problems, and other random or not-so-random people. So the capital has gone quiet. It watches the uninvited guests, who—only just arrived—already try to burn the plot of an honest widow’s home, hang people-catchers on the spot, and cast worthy people into doubt and hesitation. In short, no peace from them. The newcomers everywhere!
