Andrey Dobrov is a well-known Russian journalist, television and radio host, and publicist, the author of an information-and-analysis program. Listeners are offered a series of historical detective stories written by him about “the king of reporters,” Vladimir Gilyarovsky— a man of high intelligence and subtle intuition. He knew how to communicate equally easily with law-abiding people and with the criminal element of old Moscow.

This time, Gilyarovsky investigates an unusual suicide. He took his own life—the brother of an employee of the famous fashion modeler of the early 20th century, Nadezhda Petrovna Lamanova. Arriving at the scene by chance, the “king of reporters” immediately guessed that the suicide was staged. Later it turned out that not long before his death, a handsome young man met a certain gentleman—who turned out to be a pimp for men—and that man lured the young poet into a society of men dressed in dark masks and in outfits by Lamanova. What happened during their meeting is unknown, but the young man soon died. And the traces of the crime led Gilyarovsky nearly to the very top— to people of royal blood. What relation did Lamanova herself have to all this? The details are in the audiobook.
