The author of the novel is the well-known Soviet writer Alexander Chakovsky. In the novel “Victory,” awarded with the USSR State Prize in 1983, he describes the great confrontation of two worlds — the world of socialism and the world of capitalism. The author creates vivid portraits of Stalin, Churchill, and Truman, using documentary material, and ties together two great historical milestones: the summer of 1945, when a political battle for securing lasting peace on earth unfolded in Potsdam, and the summer of 1975, when the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe took place in Helsinki.
