The Löwensköld Ring

A family saga spanning several eras. A pinnacle of the work of Nobel Prize laureate in Literature Selma Lagerlöf, translated into Russian by Sergei Shtern. The first part of “The Löwenhjelm Trilogy.” The novel begins at Hede by estate, where General Löwenhjelm—devoted and companion in campaigns and battles of King Charles XII of Sweden—has died. According to the general’s will, a ring given by the king himself is placed into his tomb. A few days later, a valuable item is stolen from the crypt by a peasant. Thus is born the curse of the Löwenhjelm family, and begins the journey of the ring, which brought its temporary owners nothing but grief and misfortune.
