Mirk—werewolf and victor of the gods—by accident and ignorance erases in the Book of Genesis the record of his own death. Now his dream is to hide in some secluded corner and figure out how to live on. So he gladly accepts the proposal to swap roles with the ruler of the small, sleepy Barbusia, hoping to spend two carefree weeks in the palace. However, fate starts dancing right on his doorstep. Assassination attempts, lawsuits between courtiers, an empty treasury, border conflicts—turns out this is what the Barbusian ruler fled from, and this is what crashes onto Mirk’s fragile dream like a heavily loaded cart. He has to prevent, investigate, settle, replenish—and in general, rescue. And what else should real heroes do who decided to rest properly?
