A Breather in Barbus

Darkness—the werewolf and victor of the gods—by accident and ignorance erases from the Book of Genesis the record of his death. Now his dream is to hide away in some secluded corner and figure out how to live on. That’s why, with pleasure, he accepts an offer to swap roles with the ruler of the small sleepy Barbussia—hoping to spend two carefree weeks in the palace.
But fate begins its dance right on his doorstep. Assassination attempts, court disputes, an empty treasury, border conflicts—these are what it turns out the Barbussian tsar ran from, and these are what, like a heavily loaded cart, rolls over the fragile dream of Darkness. He has to prevent, settle, resolve, replenish—and in general, save. And what else should real heroes do, if they decided to take a good rest?
