In Gorky Park, on the day of a visit by an important foreign guest, a young woman is murdered. Above, people believe it might be a provocation—an action taken to discredit the Soviet Union in the eyes of foreigners. The investigation is assigned to one of the best detectives of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department, Ivan Opalin. The case seems relatively simple to him, and he even doesn’t refuse the other investigations for its sake.
