Once, in Japan’s Ginza district, magical Gates open through which the troops of an Empire located in a parallel world invade the country. In the world on the other side of the Gates live such fairy-tale creatures as elves and dragons, and some of them can be extremely dangerous. However, since the Empire’s development is, in general, at the level of the Middle Ages, Japan not only manages to repel the invasion but also captures the Gates. Now all countries are interested in using them and laying hands on the resources of a world not yet touched by modern civilization. Against all odds, Japan tries to keep the monopoly. After seizing the Gates, several detachments are formed to study the parallel world and establish friendly relations with the local population. The leader of one of these detachments becomes the main character—Itami Yōji. (с)
