Dead Water

Dead Water

13 hrs. 53 min.
The second novel of the cycle is “Living Water.” This is a sidequel (the characters are different, and it can be read as a standalone work, but you’ll meet some old acquaintances). I defined the genre as drama and dark folklore. The novel was born from an idea: how do the illiterate and wild inhabitants of the North perceive you? Surely they see in you some overwhelming and evil force—one that cannot be resisted, only “bought off” by agreeing to a truce. That’s how the story of a young country boy, Ignat, was written—before whose eyes, long ago, terrible monsters killed his friend. He becomes obsessed with finding dead water. The main motive of this character’s storyline is searching for himself, finding peace within, and coming to insight through losses and pain. Ignat’s ability to see fairy-tale things in the ordinary and scientifically explained world is the basis of the novel.
