Elena Ershova is a Russian writer of mystical works in the horror genre. She became known thanks to the trilogy “Legends of the Twilight Age.” The first two books of the series took prize places in literary contests. With a teaching education and experience in psychological work with socially dangerous families and difficult teenagers, the author actively uses the whole baggage of her knowledge in the books, where the characters are placed in difficult situations. We present, in audio format, the final part of “Legends of the Twilight Age” — the novel “Fiery City.” Despite belonging to the cycle, it has a completely independent plot. As a result of experiments to create universal soldiers, wasps were created. Aggressive creatures similar to wasps, with a collective mind, complete lack of fear, and a high pain threshold. The wasps gave people a condition: they won’t touch settlements, but in return they will take part of the children and turn them into their own kind. That’s how the main character, Yan Veresk, became a wasp too. When the war ended, the wasps were given a chance at rehabilitation and life in human society—though the humans hadn’t stopped hating them, rightly considering them cruel murderers. Yan begins investigating the strange suicide of his friend, another wasp. And this investigation leads to the secrets of the past, as well as to the horrors of the present. Details are in the audiobook.
