Turkey, the early 19th century. The country is shaken by struggles for power between sultans, and their subjects suffer as a result. Brother and sister Aynur and Aisha barely avoid losing their property and home because their father falls from favor—and they are forced to depend on a man they are destined to hate. In the harem of the wealthy townsman Ahmed Efendi there are four concubines of different origins and nationalities. Not all of them are content with carefree life—especially after a wild outsider, the steppe girl Hanar, appears among them, with an unquenchable thirst for freedom and a love that cannot be bought.
