There was no Germany yet at the beginning of the 17th century—there was an enormous Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, divided into hundreds of principalities, bishoprics, margraviates, and other electorates. And in each of them there is its own ruler, only thinking about how to bite off a tastier piece from the neighbor in order to place one of his numerous offspring somewhere. And if you’re not a prince but a princess, and even an illegitimate one, then your lot is to serve as a bargaining chip in politics and to marry some third-rate feudal lord.

But then something goes wrong, and a girl from the future ends up in the body of one of these illegitimate princesses. Will our modern-day heroine survive in those harsh times, when no one had even heard of human rights, feminism, or tolerance? And on top of that, the world isn’t quite the same as in our history. In Rus’ after the Troubles, some Tsar Johann rules. In the roads of Prussia, besides bandits, you can meet the future Patriarch Filaret. In Bohemia, a rebellion is ripening that will soon grow into a terrible Thirty Years’ War. And above all, one law governs everything—the law of the sword and strength.
