At the age of twelve, Mephodiy Buslaev learns that he will become the future ruler of darkness—gaining power at the moment of his birth during a solar eclipse. By invitation from the witch Ulita, Buslaev comes to Moscow’s residence of darkness, where he is taken under instruction by Arey, the swordsman of the baron of darkness. On the day of his thirteenth birthday, Mephodiy will have to pass through the labyrinth of the Temple of the Eternal Ristali-shcha and obtain what is kept there since the beginning of the world. At the same time, Daphna, the guard of the light living in Eden, is sent into the human world to accompany Mephodiy and, together with him, study under Arey. This is how the story of Mephodiy Buslaev begins. He will have to endure many trials before he finally chooses a side and follows his own path.
