Europe of the 14th century. History has taken a different path. The infamous “Hammer of Witches” was created a century and a half earlier than in real history; the Inquisition appeared a hundred years earlier than the corresponding organization in our world. Earlier came also its opponents—outraged by the methods and actions of a thoroughly corrupt and merciless system. However, the existence of people with supernatural abilities is not fiction, but an urgent fact. And the presence of an organization that prevents them from using their gifts for evil is still necessary.
While the Catholic world tries to solve this problem or simply ignores it, a new Inquisition is taking shape in Germany. The Congregation for the Affairs of Faith of the Holy Roman Empire creates a special academy, whose students, alongside theological wisdom, study the basics of investigative science, psychology, and the art of combat. “Old guard” inquisitors are being replaced everywhere by the academy’s graduates—working now on the basis of different knowledge, beliefs, and goals…
