The historical trilogy by Krasnoyarsk writer Alexey Cherkasov and Polina Moskvitina “Tales of the People of the Taiga” tells the stories of the inhabitants of Siberia’s Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The second novel, “The Chestnut Horse,” recounts the fate of the Cossack centurion Noi Lebed, a participant in the Civil War in Krasnoyarsk and the Yenisei Governorate, as well as the life’s ups and downs of the heroes from the first part of “Tales of the People of the Taiga.”
The trilogy includes the novels “Hops,” “The Chestnut Horse,” and “Black Poplar.”
The books will appeal to fans of Siberian epic—such as Pavel Melnikov’s diptych “In the Forests” and “On the Hills,” Vyacheslav Shishkov’s “The Bitter Rivers,” and Dmitry Mamin-Sibiryak’s “Privalov’s Millions.”
