The latest investigation by detective Angie Pallorino ended with the criminal’s death, for which she was temporarily removed from her position. From now on, Angie can’t carry a weapon and must attend psychotherapy, because she has strange dreams in which church bells ring for her and someone calls her to a grove. To make matters worse, the man she’s begun a romantic relationship with is pulling further and further away from her due to his work. Angie tries to forget the case and sort herself out, but suddenly the Canadian Royal Police contacts her. Remains were washed ashore by the ferry crossing, and the DNA somehow matches her genetic material. Despite the formal ban on investigating, Angie immediately takes up the case.
