In an alley, you might meet a wandering fortune-teller or a countess, and if you’re unlucky, you might get stabbed in the side. The turn of the century is right here—and after the age of horses comes the age of steam locomotives, followed by the first electric cars that rush in, spurred on by impatient honks as progress refuses to wait.

Here Lady Virginia-Anne will invite you to her coffeehouse, “The Old Nest,” for a cup of excellent coffee—if, of course, you’re lucky.
