Atonement

In 2245, due to an unknown cataclysm, the surface of the Earth was completely covered by water. The old world vanished forever, and the few survivors split into warring factions. Those who are richer live in space; the rest are forced to survive on airships, hunting scarce resources—and each other. For the inhabitants of Midgard, as they call their floating world, the water surface isn’t visible because of dense clouds caused by evaporation and the greenhouse effect. For decades, relentless storms and new forms of life that emerged from radiation in the depths of the ocean made the water surface inaccessible for many years. And an endless series of wars led to the fact that after 30 years, power was entirely in the hands of corporations.

Ronnie Wright has a talent for finding trouble. He’s also one of the few people nature endowed with the ability to breathe underwater. While looking for treasures on a yakuza assignment, the young adventurer accidentally discovers that the deep sea hides many secrets. Some are deadly dangerous, others are unbelievable, and the third kind is capable of destroying all of humanity.
