The second book in the series “Empire on the Edge.” The hero, who has ended up from 2017 into 1977, works off his sentence in a collective farm and returns home to Gorky. At last, he clearly defines what he is striving for and what he intends to pull off (Doctor Badmaev’s theory). In his own house, he sets up the country’s first homeowners’ association (TSZH), tries to gather like-minded people around him, experiences love—and then its loss. At the same time, he tries to make money through speculation in coins and jeans—somewhere it works out, somewhere it turns into a failure—and he gets involved in many more schemes.

The ending leads him to “the trough”—not completely smashed, but thoroughly damaged. He admits: the battle has been lost, but the war is not over, and he is ready to continue what he started—already as a student at the polytechnic institute (politekh).
