The novel “The River of the Slain” is the title book of a new cycle “Golden Eagle,” with events taking place in the lands of Eastern Ukraine occupied by the fascists in 1941–1943.
In August ’41, the Wehrmacht troops approach the Podolske fortified region (UR), the last Russian shield before the Dniester. To avoid long battles and to keep the bridges intact for the advancing “Fritz” forces, a raid is sent into the Red Army’s rear—professionals from the Wehrmacht special unit “Brandenburg.” The commander of the group, super-pro, Baron von Stubber, is a close friend of Otto Skorzeny, the chief special-forces man of the Third Reich.
