Coming to the village for the summer, Makar, Sonya, and Ladoshka Veselovs are hoping for quiet holidays—yet very soon they realize that strange troubles constantly happen to Makar. Either, out of nowhere, a haystack catches fire next to him and the boy is accused of arson; or at night, in an abandoned manor, a bell rings even though his tongue has long been gone. Real miracles begin when an unusual gift appears in Makar: he can flawlessly sense where old treasures are hidden underground. But this talent brings not only finds—because of it, Makar is also targeted for kidnapping. And if it weren’t for the support of his brother and sister, as well as the resourceful home “honorik” named Nyuk, the boy wouldn’t have been saved—even by his amazing abilities: breathing underwater and flying through the air.
