Flanders, 1919. The most terrible war in human history is still roaring. The will of the Kaiser and the kings is dictated by tanks and airplanes, and it’s also supported by magilers—the front-line mages of the 20th century.

Germany hasn’t accepted surrender yet, and its last hope is the “dead units,” where yesterday’s dead are serving—raised from graves by the regular army necromancers, the totтmейстери.

They already gave their lives for their country, but they’re still in formation—even though their hearts have long stopped beating: maimed and stitched together, knowing the taste of mustard gas and shrapnel firsthand.

They are Germany’s last hope, but their fellow soldiers look at the “dead forces” with horror and disgust, calling them “Kaiser’s canned goods,” “rot,” “dead in uniform,” and “necrotic puppets.”
