Hiding out in South America, Michael works in hotel security in Lima, dealing with unruly tourists and prostitutes. But his calm life changes abruptly when two Colombian toughs break into his room and, threatening him with a weapon, force him to answer a call from his former lover, Bridget Callaghan, in Ireland. Bridget, who lost her fiancé to Michael, gives him an ultimatum: either he comes and finds her missing daughter, or they’ll kill him on the spot. Michael arrives in Dublin on Bloomsday, June 16, as James Joyce’s novel “Ulysses” unfolds. Over the course of that day, he has to penetrate the very heart of the IRA and conduct a complex investigation to find the missing girl.
