The attack by Roy is repelled, but at a very costly price. A heavy cruiser of the Federation, for many years the guarantor of the colony’s security on Brigan-3, is destroyed. The army and the city’s residents suffer heavy losses, the infrastructure of the metropolis is badly damaged, and a rebellion is growing at the outskirts. R ich can’t count on gratitude from the city authorities for saving the children of the orphanage. They have their own games, and the former street kid doesn’t interest them at all. And yet R ich’s role in repelling Roy’s raid is not unnoticed. Too many inconsistencies are in his legend, and someone at the top has begun to suspect that the teenager from the slums has gotten hold of something that could strongly affect the balance of power in the colony.
