“These poems affect me instantly. What is the effect?
From the very first lines, silence descends upon the soul; the last ones are already read in complete inner calm. Another, a third poem—then comes the joy of being freed from all the clutter that everyday fuss brings into us, overflowing—yet it is a calm, full-blooded, illuminated joy. Zinaida Mirkina captured this state exactly:
And finally everything fell silent.
As if what, crooked and twisted,
Had been wandering somewhere for a long, long time
Suddenly gathered in the heart.
And the heart became one again,
Like sunsets over the trees.
And everything was found in its depths,
As if there had been no losses.
This is life in abundance; the vessel is full and overflowing, spilling over into others.”
