Kristina Barsova, the best childhood friend of Степанида Козлова, lives in an old house. All the villagers avoid it, because the local legend says that people disappear in one of the rooms of the mansion. But the Barsov family are not superstitious. Степанида didn’t believe in the tale either—until that terrible morning when Кристина vanished without a trace from the very same room. Her parents are convinced that after the scandal with her fiancé, their daughter went to a sanatorium. But Kozlova feels uneasy—she understands something has happened and begins searching for her friend. Trouble doesn’t come alone: soon Κристina’s father ends up in the hospital with poisoning, and then her fiancé dies in an accident. And gradually, a tangle of dirty secrets starts to unravel. And many of the “righteous” people turn out to be real sinners after all.
