But even after escaping—by some miracle—from the ambush and carrying a wounded soldier on his shoulders, the senior sergeant finds himself under suspicion from the special officers searching for a traitor among the ranks of the reconnaissance men. To clear his name in the eyes of command, he agrees to repeat the suicidal assault on a German target.
