Could Senior Sergeant Krasovsky have expected that the mission assigned to the men of his platoon would fail even before it started? That the well-informed German counterintelligence had already set up a grand trap for the reconnaissance company?
But even escaping, miraculously, from the ambush and carrying a wounded soldier on his shoulders, the senior sergeant falls under suspicion by the special officers who are looking for a traitor among the ranks of the scouts.
In order to clear himself in the eyes of the command, the senior sergeant agrees to repeat the suicidal attack on a German target once again. He doesn’t suspect that he has long been written off—“such people don’t live long.” His return back is not planned.
