The House with Unknowns

Anastasi Mirzayan, who has been appointed to the capital’s People’s Commissariat, unexpectedly discovers an old safe in his office apartment. It is obvious that it had been tried to break into once—but unsuccessfully. The official hides his find for better times. He doesn’t even realize that the most desperate thieves in Moscow have been hunting the safe for a long time. But every attempt by anyone to get hold of this prize ends tragically.

The search for the missing item is pursued as well by MUР operatives, Ivan Startsev and Alexander Vasil’kov. They manage to find out that the bloody trail of the safe with jewels stretches back to the alarming October of 1941…
