Dobrobor. The Talentless Teacher

Aleksei Stepanovich Makarov is a modest history teacher in the provinces. He chose the teaching profession deliberately and believed it was his calling. But times have come when teaching at school has become thankless—and even dangerous. After standing up for a younger student against an impudent senior student, the son of a local criminal authority, Aleksei Stepanovich is forced not only to get fired from the school, but also to flee to a remote village.

There, unexpected things begin to happen to him. He meets the local household spirit Kolyavan; discovers that all kinds of unclean entities live alongside people; and, most importantly, notices that in some children magical abilities are starting to awaken. The reason for it all is that on Earth an era is coming to an end—an era in which magic was absorbed by some kind of force—and a new age begins: the magical age. Makarov decides to gather gifted children and start teaching them magic. But the trouble is that he himself has no magical gift, so the only way he can be useful in this matter is to become the director of a magic school opened in an ancient grove. This kind of work promises no shortage of problems. Agreements must be made with the local unclean entities; teachers must be found both in magic and in natural-science subjects; and, in addition, local officials must be resisted. And it’s unlikely that the local criminal authority has forgotten about our hero. Listen to the details of this amazing story!
