The third novel of the historical-adventure tetralogy by the well-known Ukrainian writer Volodymyr Kyrylovych Mali k is about the struggle of the Ukrainian people against foreign invaders in the second half of the 17th century. Readers will meet again the Zaporozhian Cossack Arsen Zvenyhora and his friends—Russian Roman Voinov, the Pole Martyn Spyhalskyi, the Bulgarian commander Myladen and his son Nenko, already familiar to them from the previous novels “The Envoy of Urus-Shaitan” and “Firmān of the Sultan,” published by the same publisher as one volume in 1973.
