1984.
Again.
Citizens of the USSR are still building communism, eagerly “scavenging” scarce goods like hunters. And they don’t suspect the tragic turns that await both them and the country soon.
My father is still alive and teaching at school. I—me, in the past—just turned seven years old. And he (not me) will soon go to first grade. This boy doesn’t know that life has prepared surprises for him.
But surprises come in different forms.
I am the biggest surprise. For some, a pleasant one. And for others, my return to 1984 offers nothing good.
Will I change the future that I remember? After all, I’m only ten years old right now. I’m a Pioneer again and getting ready to move up to the fourth grade.
In the Soviet Union, a ten-year-old boy doesn’t have many chances to influence the fates of people and the entire country. Maybe that’s exactly why fate didn’t just grant me a “second chance,” but also gave me a gift. Or maybe it cursed me?
I’ll use that gift. And I’ll turn it into someone else’s curse. Fair Pioneer’s word!
