Steel Wolves: Infection Sector

After repelling the Kirians’ attack, humanity finally takes control of the Hadar star system—with its jewel, the planet-factory Orshu. But the price people pay is too high. Despite the presence of robotized divisions in the Federation army, human losses are catastrophic. Against this backdrop, the Earth Federation government announces the launch of the "Generation" project, intended to replenish the population through the artificial mass-growing of people.

But while the first generation is growing up, time will be needed. So Mikhail agrees to lead the "Arachna"—an artificial race, a hybrid of insects, spiders, and crustaceans, which he himself creates.

The "Arachnae" must become a buffer between chaos that has erupted in the absence of a once-powerful but vanished civilization as a controlling factor—and what, in the future, will be called Federation space.

Only a handful of people in the government and those who decided to go with Mikhail are let in on the secret of the origin of the "Arachna." The rest consider the insects enemies and rally around one goal: survive—survive at any cost.

Therefore, deep within the military laboratories, new weapons continue to be created; every day warships come off the shipyards—nearly all resources go to the war effort.

In a single surge of will, humanity forges sword and shield, so that the tragedy of Earth will never happen again. Strangely enough, the enormous spending on the Earth Federation’s military-industrial complex triggers an almost fantastic boom in the development of void industry. New factories and orbital stations are built; more and more human enclaves appear on all available celestial bodies of the Solar System; the most ambitious projects come to life.

People have never possessed such potential.

But trouble comes from where no one expects it. Truly, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
