The Dark essence of the Lord was sealed in the very silver wedge driven into the trunk of one of the God-tree’s “offspring,” the master of the Valley of Fear. It was supposed that over time the wedge would be completely hidden inside the tree’s heart and become inaccessible to anyone who wished to take hold of it.
But these plans were not destined to come true. A group of adventurers from the city of Veslo managed to obtain the wedge, hoping to sell it profitably to some sorcerer—and this led to very serious consequences for the city and its inhabitants. Veslo effectively became a battlefield for many forces that wanted to seize the powerful artifact—or at least prevent its capture by competitors.
But that wasn’t all—once again, the last of the legendary first Ten Taken, the one with a limp, Chromoy, returned from the dead, driven by a thirst for revenge against both his former enemies and his former masters. And, of course, he also wants the Wedge.
The remaining members of the Black Squad in the north, led by Dushechka and Molchun, face dangerous trials.
