The Last Arena

Power, order, law—everything collapsed in an instant. The number of dead is counted in billions. The monsters that climbed out of hellish depths swept through all of humanity with their deadly blade. Though I’m getting ahead of myself… Let’s start over. Allow me to introduce myself: Andrey Frolov. A year and a half ago I was a successful office drone. Then I became a homeless invalid hiding from the law and consumed by a thirst for revenge. Now I’m, like everyone else, one of the candidates selected for the Arena. By a strange coincidence, I found out that we must identify the 947 best fighters, and after that, a friendly crowd will trample the enemy underfoot. Simple, right? Not so fast! Against us will come warriors tempered by endless battles and who took part in thousands of fights. They are ancient wise beings who know no mercy or pardon. The enemy is smart, the enemy is cunning, the enemy is strong. And yes: we—cowardly, clueless—will go up against them. Do we have a chance? Not even funny. But there’s no choice—three hundred worlds are at stake.
