The enemies are strong, there are many of them, and they’re advancing. But I have no supplies for an army, no weapons for it, and not even an army. Monstrous corruption thrives everywhere; the state of our allies is completely unmanaged; the rabble is rebelling, officials are running off or becoming traitors. Around me it’s pure theft—everything vanishes, God knows where—and my old acquaintance isn’t involved in the criminal chaos (yes, it sounds unbelievable, but that’s exactly how it is—he’s shocked too).
And in these circumstances I must leave my allies. Not just leave them—leave them so that from the outside it looks noble. No one should accuse the empire of abandoning Mudavia in a difficult hour, condemning its people to genocide.
Quite an unusual task.
Honestly, it’s easier for me to win.
And while I’m at it, I’ll change the ruling power…
