The Star Duke

In the far reaches of space there is a kingdom of Pangea, made up of many worlds. It was founded by settlers from Earth—long ago turned into an icy ball—after the system’s only star went out. Since the time of the first colonists, the kingdom—ruled by a just monarch—has grown stronger and expanded despite the constant threat of invasion from the dark worlds of Attar, populated by nomads. The sudden death of the king, who died from an unknown illness, threatens a new war. But the kingdom is guarded by its stellar fleet, commanded by Admiral Marso—“the Star Duke,” as they call him in the fleet. As long as the duke is alive, Pangea always has hope of victory. He is wise and strong, but even he doesn’t know where the greatest danger to the kingdom lies.
