After the death of a scandalously famous top model who fell from a snow-covered balcony of her own penthouse, onlookers hesitate not a moment and record what happened as a suicide. But the deceased woman’s brother doesn’t believe this version and hires private detective Cormoran Strike. Strike is a war veteran, maimed in body and broken by what he has lived through; his life is rapidly spiraling downward. He hopes at least to get out of his financial troubles, but the investigation draws him into a dangerous game and turns into a carefully laid trap.
