First the stalkers began to disappear. In Iskitim this didn’t cause panic right away. Death in the Zone is everywhere, and a stalker’s fate varies. One is destined to return, and another is not. It’s just life.

Then the bandits controlling “exo” traffic also ran into problems. Every single group suffered serious losses. Not only the “petty guys” were disappearing without a trace in the Zone — even major criminal authorities began to vanish one after another.

At that exact moment, the hardened stalker Kotlyarov, nicknamed Kot, turns out to be in the wrong place and at the wrong time. The bandits pass a death sentence on him.

Escaping execution, Kot searches for the people who set him up. And he discovers that all the disappearances are only part of a chain of ominous events — the tip of the iceberg of Evil that is approaching the world from the depths of the Zone.
