Xiang Xixiu, a star of Peking opera, reached an incredible popularity that other actors could only dream of. His name was on everyone’s lips, the troupe “Shuiyun” became the subject of conversation, and everyone wanted to see his performances.

His biography grew surrounded by legends thanks to publications in various newspapers. These rumors amused Xiang Xixiu, since his fans’ imagination knew no bounds. Soon, another figure entered the story—Cheng Fentai, with whom Xiang spent a lot of time, which caused concern.

When it seemed that Xiang Xixiu’s success had reached its peak, a serious tragedy struck—after which his life changed dramatically.
