Magical worlds are nothing like the kind fairy tales you hear in childhood. The storytellers forget that people, elves, orcs, and other fairy-tale beings living in the magical world are subject to the same passions and vices that fill everyday life.
An Earthling—an interloper, a boy—who was once a human and is now a dragon, finds himself at the crossroads of interests of different races. Trying not to get caught in the millstones spun by rulers, called “war,” he flees. You can hide from everything, but you cannot run from yourself. You can’t abandon those who trusted you; you can’t forget your essence; you can’t throw off responsibility—the fate’s cruel mistress has loaded it onto the young dragon-shifter’s shoulders with a generous hand. Dragons are not allowed many things, including losing heart. So he has no choice but to accept the challenge, step onto the road you chose, and go through it to the end.
