The Scent of Salt and the Cries of Birds

The authorities of the town of Tanumshede, eager to attract media attention and a stream of tourists, set up filming for a reality show. Soon, one of the participants—glamorous beauty Barbie, by a suitable nickname—turns up dead. And only a few days earlier, a nondescript forty-year-old shop owner had also died. Almost nondescript—because if you look closely, everyone has a skeleton in the closet… These deaths are followed by new ones, but what could be the connection between them—perfectly different, committed in different towns in different years in Sweden? And most importantly: why does a page from a fairy tale book about Hansel and Gretel end up near each body?
