The Enchanters

The creators of this book are well-known Russian fantasists, members of the Union of Writers of Russia. Aleksei Yuryevich Pekhov is also part of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association (SFWA). Elena Alexandrovna Bychkova is his wife, a popular author of books and computer game scripts. Their longtime coauthor, Natalia Vladimirovna Turchaninova, has gained recognition in the fantasy genre.

In the cycle “The Summoners” (which currently includes two novels), the action takes place in the fictional country of Akiné, divided into many provinces. The world of people lives alongside the world of spirits—sometimes unnoticed, but exerting a considerable influence over everything happening around. Kind spirits help people, lighthearted ones love to play pranks, and evil spirits are deadly. To tame spirits, the Order of Summoners was created, and that is where the heroes of the novels train. In the final trial, only a few adepts survive—but even among the survivors there are those whom the Order rejects. They broke the rule stating that you may not help others and save them from certain death. Rey, Grizzly, and Sagyunaro consider this unjust and try to restore their status as Summoners. Danger awaits them along the chosen path, and all the knowledge and skills of the adepts will be needed to stand up to crafty spirits.
