The Task Is to Survive!

The day didn’t go well from the very beginning. The Earth refused to reward Alexey with good finds—nothing but trash: spent shells already worn out with everyone’s hearing, fragments, plugs… Then it started raining. When his boots slipped on wet leaves, the digger didn’t even imagine that falling down the hill would end for him in faraway 1941—in the forests near Rovno, which were already deep in the rear of the advancing German army. What should he do? Break through the front line to get back to his own? Reach the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and tell about the future? Or stay here in the forest, and choosing the path of a partisan, do everything possible for Victory? Alexey chose the second path, setting himself the task— to survive.
