Description

As long as humanity has existed, there have been attempts to create the “perfect society,” where people would live and work in complete harmony with one another and with nature. Somewhere among the vast Siberian expanses, in an area encircled by impassable mountains, a new state Káratai—also known as the “Republic of Deserters”—has been created. So far, the newly minted country is far from perfect and more resembles a social testing ground. It’s not surprising that the investigator of the military prosecutor’s office, Mikhail Lugovoy, who ended up there, fled from the Republic at the first opportunity. But escaping from this monstrous experiment on human beings is almost impossible. A hunt begins for the runaway—and in the end, Lugovoy is once again escorted back into the happy “Republic of Deserters,” this time together with his new friend Anyuta. However, Mikhail has hatched a bold plan…
