Our time, our city—just like any other: people lived and worked, created families and raised children, participated in political life or pursued hobbies. Who could have known that one of those nights all of that life would be covered by a nuclear mushroom?

For Artyom and his friends, the “survivalists,” everything is ready to endure difficult times: a bunker in the woods, proper preparation and equipment. The only problem is that there are people all around—confused, not expecting anything, and unprepared.

What should they do in these circumstances to remain human?

Author’s note

An attempt to think about survival and “survivalists,” the first days after the “big boom,” and the view of an ordinary person on what’s happening. I didn’t specify locations on purpose; I think any industrial center in a forested area within the territory of the post-Soviet space could serve as a prototype.
