The adventures of Незнайка have become a favorite book for more than one generation of children. And of course, it’s a pity when a good story ends. Igor Nosov wrote a sequel and allowed the pleasure of getting to know these little fellows living in a fairy-tale city to continue.
The main hero is Незнайка, a fantasist with whom something is always bound to happen—cheerful and funny. He’s a creative sort. The stories connected with him are full of humor and kindness. But there’s also his opposite—Знайка.
Знайка is a scientist who invented a flying machine and reads many books. He claims to be the most important and the smartest, though in truth he isn’t. But it isn’t hard to convince the little fellows. In his books, Nosov draws an underdeveloped, priggish society. Знайка sets the other heroes against Незнайка because he senses a potential threat in him.
The world invented by Nosov is many-sided. It has features of a social anti-utopia, an amazing prediction of the future, and an element of fantasy. The book is funny at any age, though each time the life experience you’ve accumulated lets you see something new in it.
