Return of the Overthrown

Centuries have passed since the monstrous wars of mages thundered and half the continent was turned into a wasteland covered with ash—unfit for life. Once magnificent cities now lie in ruins, inhabited by monsters and undead beings so dangerous that it was necessary to build a border wall in order to protect the peaceful inhabitants from a deadly threat. Thus the Wild Lands came into being.

Soon the harsh and snowy winter will end. Less than a year has passed since the settlers led by the baron-exile Coris Van Iser laid the first stone for the fortress wall’s foundation. But in such a brief time, a great deal has already happened. The old king fell at the hands of conspirators, and the master necromancer has been taken by the Holy Church. The tomb of the necromancer Taris has been toppled into the dead waters of a salty lake. Coris, who tirelessly tries to reach the truth, has learned much—while the rest remains reliably hidden beneath the veil of an ancient secret. Yet the baron keeps searching for answers, all the while trying to regain his human form.

Meanwhile, events are accelerating, and soon the settlement lost deep in the very heart of the Wild Lands will have to face not only hordes of undead…
